Direct Support Professional Position
Overview: Direct Support Professionals (DSP) will support individuals with developmental and intellectual disability to learn, grow and become more independent and live a good life.
Accountability: The Direct Support Personnel (DSP) shall be accountable to the Team Lead.
Duties: The DSP will:
- Implement risk plans correctly and safely
- Assist individuals served with activities of daily living (personal hygiene, grooming, feeding, toileting, cooking, cleaning)
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment
- Assist individuals with goals
- Use adaptive equipment correctly
- Administer medication(s) according to guidelines.
- Implementing treatment plan within scope of practice
- Encourage community participation of individuals served
- Communicate effectively with team members
- Document accurately and timely
- Monitor for changes in health and behavior and communicate to support team
- Assists individuals in performing their cleaning responsibilities or/and perform cleaning duties as applicable.
- Transport and accompany individuals to appointments, outings, and shopping.
- Perform other responsibilities and duties assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred previous experience with the developmentally and intellectually disabled preferred.
